Cochran County Arrest History
A Cochran County arrest can start with the Sheriff's Office, Morton Police Department, county constable, Texas Highway Patrol, or another state officer with authority. The arresting agency creates the incident and arrest report. If the person is booked locally, the Cochran County Jail creates an intake record, fingerprints, a booking image, charge rows, and custody data. A justice or other magistrate then creates warnings, probable-cause, counsel, and bail records.
These are separate files. The arrest report can describe the alleged event. The booking entry proves that intake occurred. A later court file shows what prosecutors actually filed and how the charge ended. Texas DPS may receive the fingerprint arrest cycle and later disposition, but its public name product is narrower than a subject's fingerprint-based review. Cochran County arrest history is therefore reconstructed from several official custodians, not one master page.

The Cochran County Sheriff's official page links the Cochran County Jail Report and gives the open-records email. The report is the main public surface for current custody and recent Cochran County arrests. It offers Current Inmates, 24 Hours Arrests, and Inmates by Arrest Date tabs, plus an optional inmate-name filter. No account or fee gate appeared during research.
The source image shows where the county routes jail and arrest-record users. The portal is a booking and custody report, not a statewide criminal-history search. It may change after release, and intake may not appear at once. Call the sheriff when current status affects a decision.

Looking Up Cochran County Arrests
Start with the source closest to the event. A current booking, an older arrest report, a court prosecution, and a statewide fingerprint record answer different questions. Use the full legal name and an approximate arrest date. Add the arresting agency, incident number, booking number, or warrant number when known, but do not assume the jail's warrant number equals a court cause number.
- Open the official Jail Report. Check 24 Hours Arrests, Current Inmates, and Inmates by Arrest Date, then use the optional name filter.
- Call the Cochran County sheriff at 806-266-5211 to confirm custody, booking time, charges, bond changes, holds, release, or transfer.
- Request the incident or arrest report from the agency named in the booking. Ask the sheriff separately for the booking and release record.
- Check the proper clerk after filing time passes: district court for felonies, County Court for Class A or B charges, and the JP or Morton Municipal Court for fine-only matters.
- For older material, email Sheriff@co.cochran.tx.us. For your own statewide record, use the Texas DPS fingerprint review rather than relying on its narrower public name search.
A recent Cochran County arrest may not yet have a court cause. Likewise, a released person may leave the Current Inmates view while the booking record still exists. Search each channel on its own terms.
Cochran Arrest Agency Routing
The creator of an arrest report remains its primary custodian. A Morton police report should be requested through the City of Morton, whose main line is 806-266-8850 because no dedicated official police records portal or email was located. A Texas Highway Patrol report remains with DPS even if the Cochran County Jail performed the booking. Game-warden reports route through the Texas Parks and Wildlife open-records channel. The sheriff holds its own reports and the county booking record.

Medical screening, jail classification, security data, unredacted identifiers, confidential juvenile material, and protected victim information are not public just because someone asks. Availability depends on the record and governing law.

Cochran Arrests Reach DPS
Booking staff take fingerprints and submit identifying data through Texas criminal-justice reporting systems. The fingerprint transaction ties the Cochran County arrest cycle to the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division. Prosecutors and courts later report charging and disposition events. That is why a booking charge can differ from the offense ultimately filed, and why a cycle with delayed or unmatched reporting may lack a final outcome.
The public DPS Conviction Name Search reports eligible Texas convictions and deferred adjudications, not every arrest. A subject reviewing their own statewide history should use the fingerprint process through FAST, delivered through the official IdentoGO enrollment channel. Booking Logs and Recent Arrests
The 24 Hours Arrests tab is Cochran County's clearest official recent-arrest publication. Inmates by Arrest Date helps after the first day, while Current Inmates is useful only as long as custody continues. The county did not publish a separate daily PDF blotter, police blotter, arrest-news archive, or verified sheriff app. That makes phone confirmation and a written request important when a date falls outside the live display.
Read each charge line on its own. Note the arresting agency, statute, description, any warrant number, bond per charge, and total bond. Total bond is an aggregate display, not proof that no other hold exists. The roster is a snapshot. A person may be released or transferred after the page loads, so the sheriff should confirm present custody and accepted bond method before anyone acts.
No arrestee names or booking photographs are republished here. The official log is the proper place to view current data, and a booking image never establishes guilt.

Arrests Are Not Convictions
An arrest records an exercise of custody authority. It does not decide guilt. Prosecutors may reject, amend, reduce, enhance, or add charges, and a court may dismiss or acquit. Bond is also not a result. It sets security and conditions for release while a case is pending. A Cochran County arrest record can remain in an agency file after dismissal unless expunction or another law restricts it.

Texas Chapter 55A expunction can remove qualifying arrest records after a court order. Nondisclosure limits public access in eligible cases while allowing specified agencies to retain access. A portal entry disappearing does not prove either remedy was granted.
Note: A Cochran County arrest is not proof of guilt, and many booked allegations change or end without a conviction.

Government Code section 552.108 may protect law-enforcement material when release would interfere with an investigation or prosecution. Section 552.108(c) still preserves prompt release of basic arrest and crime information unless another law controls. Juvenile confidentiality, victim protection, common-law privacy, expunction, and active-case limits can require withholding or redaction.
